An interesting new technology called BioDisks, invented by physicist Dan Nelson, is effective at modulating the body's electromagnetic field without using any type of conventional electromagnetic device. Computer generated geometric patterns allow tapping zero-point energy. The BioDisks can be used alone or work nicely in conjunction with conventional Rife technologies and augment frequency effects.

I am often asked about the "new" physics and avoid talking about it because much of what is said by new age enthusiasts is pure nonsense. However, Zpower Corporation has provided a good compiliation of articles from science journals that are accessible to someone who is not a practicing physicist. See "Zero Point Energy." ZPE links the basic concepts of inertia, gravity, energy, electromagnetic fields, and scalar technology. Some of the effects of electromagnetic instruments and devices that act at a distance can only be explained starting with an understanding of zero point energy.

As Zpower Corporation points out:

Physicists recognize that we are immersed in an energetic field. The existence of the zero point electromagnetic energy was discovered in 1958 by the Dutch physicist M. J. Sparnaay. Mr Sparnaay continued the experiments carried out by Hendrick B. G. Casimir in 1948 which showed the existence of a force between two uncharged plates which arose from electromagnetic energy surrounding the plates in a vacuum.

Mr Sparnaay discovered that the forces acting on the plates arose from not only thermal energy (heat) but also from another type of radiation now known as classical electromagnetic zero point energy. Mr Sparnaay determined that not only did the zero point electromagnetic energy exist in a vacuum but also that it persisted even at a temperature of absolute zero. This term Zero Point Energy (ZPE) has been based on the concept that even if matter were cooled down to absolute zero (minus 273oC), in terms of its temperature, this energy field still remains.

Because it exists in a vacuum, ZPE is homogeneous (uniform) and isotropic (identical in all directions) as well as ubiquitous (exists everywhere). In addition, the intensity of the energy at any frequency is proportional to the cube of that frequency. Consequently, the intensity of the energy field increases without limit as the frequency increases resulting in an infinite energy density for the radiation spectrum. With the introduction of the ZPE into the classical electron theory, a vacuum at a temperature of absolute zero is no longer considered empty of all electromagnetic fields. Instead, the vacuum is now considered as filled with randomly fluctuating fields having the ZPE spectrum.

The special characteristics of ZPE are that it has a virtually infinite energy density and that it is ubiquitous (even present in outer space), which make it very desirable as an energy source. However, because high energy densities exist at very high frequencies, and because conventional methods are only able to convert or extract energy effectively or efficiently at lower frequencies, effectively tapping this energy source has been unavailable using conventional techniques. Consequently, ZPE which may be used to provide for society's demanding energy needs has remained unharnessed.

Electromagetic fields and brain cancer clinical trial

We have reported for many years that low voltage EM fields will cause cancer cells to self-destruct through apoptosis. There is now a clinical trial on brain cancer patients using continuously applied external electromagetic fields of low voltage and relatively low frequencies (150-200khz). Preliminary results are quite good.

Cancer cells divide and multiply rapidly in the brain. These cancer cells carry special types of electrically charged elements that play a role during the cell division process. Other healthy cells in the brain multiply at a much slower rate, if at all, and thus rarely include the same electric properties as the dividing cancer cells.

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields)

The NovoTTF-100A device used in this trial delivers very low intensity, alternating electric fields to the tumor site through the scalp. These fields are known as Tumor Treating Fields or TTFields. Due to the unique shape of cancer cells when they are multiplying, TTFields cause the building blocks of these cells to pile up in such a way that the cells physically break apart. In addition, cancer cells also contain miniature building blocks that move essential parts of the cells from place to place during division. TTFields cause these building blocks to fall apart since they have a special type of electric charge. As a result of these two effects, preliminary study data indicate that cancer tumor growth is slowed and may even reverse after continuous exposure to TTFields. Preliminary data also indicate that the TTFields affect the healthy brain cells much less than cancer cells since healthy brain cells multiply at a much slower rate, if at all.

We have recently shown that low intensity, intermediate frequency, electric fields inhibit by an anti-microtubule mechanism of action, cancerous cell growth in vitro. Using implanted electrodes, these fields were also shown to inhibit the growth of dermal tumors in mice. The present study extends these findings to additional cell lines [human breast carcinoma; MDA-MB-231, and human non-small-cell lung carcinoma (H1299)] and to animal tumor models (intradermal B16F1 melanoma and intracranial F-98 glioma) using external insulated electrodes. These findings led to the initiation of a pilot clinical trial of the effects of TTFields in 10 patients with recurrent glioblastoma (GBM). Median time to disease progression in these patients was 26.1 weeks and median overall survival was 62.2 weeks. These time to disease progression and OS values are more than double the reported medians of historical control patients. No device-related serious adverse events were seen after >70 months of cumulative treatment in all of the patients. The only device-related side effect seen was a mild to moderate contact dermatitis beneath the field delivering electrodes. We conclude that TTFields are a safe and effective new treatment modality which effectively slows down tumor growth in vitro, in vivo and, as demonstrated here, in human cancer patients.

Viktor Schauberger, the brilliant Austrian scientist, working in the 1940�s and 50�s, may have been the first to study micro vortexes in water. Interestingly, micro vortexes carry the same basic structure as DNA! More recently, scientists in Hong Kong have demonstrated that micro vortexes can be created in the laboratory and are used to manipulate single DNA molecules. In other words, the bore of the micro vortex approaches that of the DNA double helix. It seems like divine irony that the very mechanism that may have created DNA is now being employed to manipulate it!

To summarise, we propose that the first strands of DNA were created in the micro vortex environments of primordial hydrothermal vents. Should micro vortexes be discovered within microscopic bubbles we have a model that begins to resemble living cells: a membrane (the surface of the bubble) with strands of DNA within.

If sound was indeed the trigger for life, it follows that sound alone should be able to heal life. The sound of ocean waves is certainly calming but the sounds imbedded within them may healing at a level we can currently only guess at.

Mycoplasma - Why the Lyme Flu Goes On and On

Many chronic dieseases today are caused or aggravated by bioengineered mycoplasma that now infect most of the population. The recent Lyme flu has caused long term sinus and other problems in some of those afflicted. The root of this problem appears to be mycoplasma.

Don Scott's work on investigating the origin of these mycoplasma is provided below. Those wanting more detailed analysis of the origins of Lyme disease should read Lab 257, a thoroughly researched analysis of decades of violation of EPA regulations and common sense at Plum Island. Click here for an excellent video of blood microscopy showing the Lyme mycoplasma. They are the small spherical white dots in the video that tend to attach to red blood cells and cause energy depletion. Dr. Shyh-Ching Lo mentioned by Don Scott below has a patent on Mycoplasma fermentans extracted from AIDs patients. These are seen in the photo above and in the video.

Most research on Lyme disease focuses on eliminating the Borrellia spirochetes with antibiotics as these are the most immediately disabling. However, the spirochetes can be removed in a few hours with frequencies. The more difficult organisms are the viruses, the fungi, and the mycoplasma. The mycoplasma are often infected with nanobacteria so eliminating them will cause a nanobacteria herxheimer reaction. Thus nanobacteria needs to be dealt with as well as the primary symptom of nanobacteria infection is the need for excessive amounts of sleep. This is commonly seen in those with chronic Lyme infections.

Recent research has focused on systematically disassembling micoplasma with frequencies that target various parts of the organism and disperse the DNA. There are quite a few mycoplasma strains in the Lyme complex and it is a nontrivial task to untangle them all. Subscribers will automatically receive these frequencies.

Several strains of mycoplasma have been "engineered" to become more dangerous. They are now being blamed for AIDS, cancer, CFS, MS, CJD and other neurosystemic diseases.

There are 200 species of Mycoplasma. Most are innocuous and do no harm; only four or five are pathogenic. Mycoplasma fermentans (incognitus strain) probably comes from the nucleus of the Brucella bacterium. This disease agent is not a bacterium and not a virus; it is a mutated form of the Brucella bacterium, combined with a visna virus, from which the mycoplasma is extracted.

The pathogenic Mycoplasma used to be very innocuous, but biological warfare research conducted between 1942 and the present time has resulted in the creation of more deadly and infectious forms of Mycoplasma.

Researchers extracted this mycoplasma from the Brucella bacterium and actually reduced the disease to a crystalline form. They "weaponized" it and tested it on an unsuspecting public in North America.

Dr Maurice Hilleman, chief virologist for the pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme, stated that this disease agent is now carried by everybody in North America and possibly most people throughout the world.

Despite reporting flaws, there has clearly been an increased incidence of all the neuro/systemic degenerative diseases since World War II and especially since the 1970s with the arrival of previously unheard-of diseases like chronic fatigue syndrome and AIDS.

According to DR Shyh-Ching Lo, senior researcher at The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and one of America's top mycoplasma researchers, this disease agent causes many illnesses including AIDS, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn's colitis, Type I diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Wegener's disease and collagen-vascular diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer's.

DR Charles Engel, who is with the US National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, stated the following at an NIH meeting on February 7, 2000: "I am now of the view that the probable cause of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia is the mycoplasma..."

I have all the official documents to prove that mycoplasma is the disease agent in chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia as well as in AIDS, multiple sclerosis and many other illnesses.

Of these, 80% are US or Canadian official government documents, and 20% are articles from peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, New England Journal of Medicine and the Canadian Medical Association Journal. Vaccine Companies Investigated for Manslaughter

A formal investigation has been launched by French authorities against two managers from drug companies GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi Pasteur. A second investigation for manslaughter has also been opened against Sanofi Pasteur MSD.

The investigations are in response to allegations that the companies failed to fully disclose side effects from an anti-hepatitis B drug used between 1994 and 1998.

During this time, close to two-thirds of the French population, and almost all newborn babies, received a hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccination campaign was halted after concerns rose over the shot�s side effects.

Thirty plaintiffs, including the families of five people who died after the vaccination, have launched a civil action in the case against the drug companies.

ABPA - Frequency Foundation Standard Configuration

The Frequency Foundation has spent a decade of research on fine tuning ABPA hardware for frequency transmission. We assisted in the development of special cabling and green antennae boards that are factory approved. Many different hardware addons have been tested and the Harmony Evolution chip has proven the most useful in improving effectiveness.

The configuration of the ABPA system is extremely important to get maximum benefit. While any frequency generator such as the FSCAN can be connected to the ABPA, the F165 frequency generator has been the most useful because of its programmability along with the quality of its signal and its output of mulitple channels. This device is recommended for anyone who wants to get the most utility out of the ABPA. It is mandatory for those wanting to use Lyme frequencies as the sets are so complex it is not feasible to manually program them on another device.

It is also essential to set up the hardware exactly as indicated here. Failure to do this will seriously degrade the output of the ABPA. For those able to test the ABPA signal who find an improved configuration, the Frequency Foundation will test that configuration at no charge and confirm your findings. Otherwise use the standard configuration shown here.

In 2007, ABPA's were upgraded with a new chip. This means:

- More ABPA internal memory
- More comprehensive internal ABPA software

A frequency generator can be attached to an Advanced BioPhoton Analyzer (ABPA) and the device will transmit an ultralow frequency carrier wave with the generated frequencies superimposed and filtered by a target photo. The person in the photo acts as a tuner that receives the frequencies.

F165/F70 frequency generators are used for this purpose as they put out multiple channels of high quality signals that are programmable by a scripting language. The Frequency Foundation has upgraded some of the F165 generators (shown in the photo above) to F170 devices that simultaneously emit 7 channels of frequencies. This allows you to target precisely and simultaneously all or most of the frequencies for a parasite, for example, which typically has 4-8 frequencies. This full scale assault on the life form radically shortens treatment time. Similarly for bacteria that form communities which have multiple frequencies for different stages of the community life cycle.

The recommended hardware setup has evolved over the years to make it more than 1000 times as effective when I first discovered the capability of the ABPA to transmit frequencies. It is critical that the hardware be set up exactly right to get the desired effects. Only with precisely the right hardware configuration and precisely the right frequencies can you get consistently good results.

From left to right in the photo above, we see that following switches/connectors on the F165 frequency generator:

1. The black knob turns up the voltage of the signal to a maximum of 16 volts for the output port directly to the right of the knob.
2. The output port to the right of the knob needs to be connected to the factory approved cable with a blue box in the center. When the other end of the cable is plugged into the ABPA, a red LED lights up on the ABPA side of the blue box. The knob is turned up so that the red LED on the F165 side of the blue box exactly matches the brightness of the LED on the ABPA side. This matches the impedance of the frequency generator signal to the ABPA and provides maximum effectiveness. The factory cable improved output by a factor of 5 over previous strategies of placing an ABPA wire connected to the F160 under the ABPA input well.
3. The second output jack to the right of the black knob is a 5 volt output suitable for driving Rife plasma devices.
4. The next jack to the right is for a USB cable to connect to a computer. A computer is used to program the F165 and can drive the device directly or download a program into the F165 so that it can run stand alone.
5. Next we have a power jack.
6. To the right of the power jack is an on/off switch.

A second factory approved option for the ABPA that has been developed by the inventor for use in frequency applications is a green antenna board (see photo above). It improves the effectiveness of ABPA frequency transmission by a factor of 10. (Call Dale Fawcett for ABPA accessories, F-Scan or Transfer Factor info at 360 598-6585). The effects of the cable and the antennae are multiplicative. You get 50 times the effectiveness of a frequency transmission compared to a system without them.

The Advanced Biophoton Analyzer (ABPA)is a device that can be used for many purposes. One of them is to broadcast frequencies on a very low frequency carrier wave that can penetrate the earth and is independent of distance. The frequency effect on a living organism at a remote location is comparable to being in the room with an EMEM plasma device or directly connected to electrodes from a contact device like an FSCAN when all recommendations on hardware setup are followed.

The recommended setup of the ABPA is show in the photo above:

1. The switches are set from left to right - off, off, off, auto, auto, on, send, auto.
2. The first jack on the front right of the ABPA is for power.
3. The second jack is a mini female phono jack for input. The recommended setup is a MONO mini male dual phono jack that connects both the antennae and the factory approved cable with the blue box to the ABPA. Do not use a stereo dual phono jack as the ABPA will receive no signal and the ABPA will not transmit frequencies.
4. A Polaroid photo of the target should be put on the antenna. For high power transmission, it is recommended that a high resolution digital photo be put in the photo well. This combination will increase the effectiveness of the transmission by another factor of 5 or more. This gives us 5x10x5 times the effectiveness of earlier implementations.
5. Finally, a Harmony Evolution Chip should be put on the antennae. This improves the output of the ABPA by another factor of 25 so we have a system that is 5x10x5x25 or thousands of times better than the first implementation of these systems.
6. There are proprietary hardware strategies that the Frequency Foundation uses to enhance output even further, making remote transmission as effective as local application of frequencies in most cases.

The ABPA has some advantages over direct contact with frequency devices as it is able to monitor the energy system of the target and only transmit information that will balance that energy system and bring it into a higher energy state. It is a self-correcting device that works with and enhances the effect of frequency generators attached to it. This only occurs if a Polaroid photo of the target is in the circuit. It can be in the photo well, on the antenna, or in the input or output wells. All of these are on the same circuit.

The only challenge remaining is finding the right frequencies for your purposes. As Dr. Royal Rife once said, if you have the wrong frequency or set of frequencies you will get no effect. For help in finding the right frequencies for your needs, contact the Frequency Foundation.

New Way to Kill Viruses: Shake Them to Death

Scientists may one day be able to destroy viruses in the same way that opera singers presumably shatter wine glasses. New research mathematically determined the frequencies at which simple viruses could be shaken to death.

"The capsid of a virus is something like the shell of a turtle," said physicist Otto Sankey of Arizona State University. "If the shell can be compromised [by mechanical vibrations], the virus can be inactivated."

Recent experimental evidence has shown that laser pulses tuned to the right frequency can kill certain viruses. However, locating these so-called resonant frequencies is a bit of trial and error.

"Experiments must just try a wide variety of conditions and hope that conditions are found that can lead to success," Sankey told LiveScience.

To expedite this search, Sankey and his student Eric Dykeman have developed a way to calculate the vibrational motion of every atom in a virus shell. From this, they can determine the lowest resonant frequencies.

As an example of their technique, the team modeled the satellite tobacco necrosis virus and found this small virus resonates strongly around 60 Gigahertz (where one Gigahertz is a billion cycles per second), as reported in the Jan. 14 issue of Physical Review Letters.

ABSTRACT
Low-intensity, intermediate-frequency (100�300 kHz), alternating electric fields, delivered by means of insulated electrodes, were found to have a profound inhibitory effect on the growth rate of a variety of human and rodent tumor cell lines (Patricia C, U-118, U-87, H-1299, MDA231, PC3, B16F1, F-98, C-6, RG2, and CT-26) and malignant tumors in animals.

This effect, shown to be nonthermal, selectively affects dividing cells while quiescent cells are left intact. These fields act in two modes: arrest of cell
proliferation and destruction of cells while undergoing division. Both effects are demonstrated when such fields are applied for 24 h to cells undergoing mitosis that is oriented roughly along the field direction. The first mode of action is manifested by interference with the proper formation of the mitotic spindle, whereas the second results in rapid disintegration of the dividing cells. Both effects, which are frequency dependent, are consistent with the computed directional forces exerted by these specific fields on charges and dipoles within the dividing cells. In vivo treatment of tumors in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice (B16F1 and CT-26 syngeneic tumor models, respectively), resulted in significant slowing of tumor growth and extensive destruction of tumor cells within 3�6 days. These findings demonstrate the potential applicability of the described electric fields as a novel therapeutic modality for malignant tumors.

Lyme Flu

An unusual flu-like illness has been observed on the East Coast, West Coast, and Chicago by Frequency Foundation researchers. Analysis indicates that it is caused by Lyme organisms including six virus strains and a parasite.

All Lyme clients are infected with these organisms. This set of pathogens has taken on a life of its own and is infecting large numbers of people causing runny noses, sinus drainage, and other flu-like symptoms.

Of particular interest are two of the viruses which are strains of the Borna virus. This virus causes mental problems, depression, rashes, tooth decay and many other symptoms. In addition to elimination of cold/flu symptoms, application of these frequencies has reduced depression in some people and increased mental clarity in others.

Viruses are usually found in conjunction with parasites infected with them. This is the most likely route of infection in most flus. Microscopic parasites are passed by airborne or contact exposure. The parasites are infected with viruses and other organisms. Killing the viruses stirs up the parasites as they are now feeling much healthier generating a Herxheimer effect which can be dealt with by herbal supplements noted.

All persons with Lyme disease appear to be infected with the Lyme Flu and these frequencies will be incorporating into future releases of the Lyme frequency series.

Borna Virus Linked to Mental Illness

I've made the case for years that the Borna virus is widespread in at least 30% of the population and the Germans agree with me. It affects whole families at once and is an occupational hazard for therapists and ministers. You can pick up the virus by being in the room with someone who has it just like picking up a cold.

Lyme disease has hundreds of viral frequencies and a number of them are Borna virus strains. This is one of the reasons some clinicians accuse their Lyme patients of having nothing wrong with them. It's all "in their head!" Borna virus always make you a little anxious, often paranoid, and sometimes causes depression, bipolar disease, and other mental illness. Getting rid of it always makes people feel better. I have found Borna virus in 100% of the people I have tested with Bipolar disease and eliminating the frequency signature will usually stop a Bipolar expisode in a couple of hours. People with a clinical diagnosis of Bipolar disease typically have a concurrent parasite infection of the choroid plexus of the brain.

The Borna virus was first discovered in horses in Germany and the Germans have done many of the best studies on this major public health problem. They have tested for the virus in depressed patients and found it, treated the virus and determined it was eliminated in lab tests, and showed the depression was significantly reduced in most of the patients. They can reintroduce the depression by reinfecting with the virus so it satisfies Koch's postulates which is the gold standard for medical causality.

There are hundreds of studies on the Borna virus posted on www.pubmed.org, yet the average U.S. psychiatrist has never read any of them. They won't test for it and they won't treat it. There are many such "cognitive gaps" in modern medicine. It took a hundred years from publication of a monogram at Johns Hopkins suggesting that ulcers were caused by H. Pylori before psychiatrists stopped sending people to therapy for them. And only an article in the National Enquirer caused enough uproar to wake up the scientific community. Where is the National Enquirer when we need them? The Washington Post has helped a little bit.

Psychiatric study connects animal disease, mental illness

What if mental illness is catching?

Although it sounds far-fetched and remains controversial, this theory got another boost from a study published in a recent issue of the journal Molecular Psychiatry. Using a new diagnostic tool to screen blood for a pathogen known as the Borna virus, a team of German researchers from major academic institutions found that it infects up to 30 percent of healthy people and up to 100 percent of people with severe mood disorders.

Borna disease is common in horses, where it can cause encephalitis. It's also been known to strike birds, cows, sheep, cats and dogs, producing behavior changes that are eerily similar to depression and other neuropsychiatric disorders in humans. Named after a town in Saxony (now Germany), where an outbreak of encephalitis in horses crippled the Prussian army in the late 1800s, Borna disease has been recognized in recent years as an emerging illness among humans.

In 1996, scientists at Scripps Research Institute in California found the first evidence that the Borna disease virus can infect human brain tissue. All of those infected had a history of mental disorders involving memory loss and depression.

There are widely varying infection rates among animals and people in Europe, North America and parts of Asia. The link between neuropsychiatric disorders and infection in humans varies as well. Researchers in South Korea, for example, found no link between Borna disease infection and mental illness, while investigators in Taiwan found a high rate of infection in people with schizophrenia -- and among their family members and among mental health workers.

"The fact that you find evidence of an infection in one population or another does not allow you to conclude that there is a causal relationship," said W. Ian Lipkin, professor of neurology at the University of California, Irvine, and head of a lab that unraveled the Borna disease virus genome. In other words, Lipkin said, scientists still can't tell which comes first: the infection or the mental disorder. (Various mental illnesses can suppress the immune system and make individuals more vulnerable to certain microbes.)

And they also don't know how close the association is. It's possible, for example, to have Borna disease without depression and depression without Borna disease.

How Borna disease is transmitted is also a mystery, although there's evidence in animals that it may spread via nasal passages, Lipkin notes in an article in the July issue of Trends in Microbiology. The article, written by Lipkin and two of his Irvine colleagues, notes that the link between the Borna virus and human disease remains controversial, but warrants continued investigation.

Even so, no one suggests that Borna disease may be the only cause of depression and other mental disorders. Although researchers have discovered a link between certain types of infection and heart disease, they have not concluded that one causes the other.

In 21 women who completed the study at the Mayo Clinic, hot flash frequency was cut in half and severity was reduced by 57%. Improved mood, reduced joint or muscle pain, fewer chills, and less sweating was reported.

Candida: How to get rid of it!

Candida is pandemic - almost everyone has a candida infection. These infections have been stimulated by overuse of antibiotics and the problem gets worse as time goes on. Recently, fungal infections including candida have been tied to cancer, so this is not an innocuous infection.

Even if you avoid antibiotics (I haven't used any since 1993) you will get infected with candida. Over half the population is infected with Lyme organisms (at least over half of the people I test) and the Lyme complex includes many strains of candida along with many other organisms. Flus are typically transmitted by microscopic parasites which are often infected with candida. The candida fungus can get on clothes and other materials where you can pick up a contact infection. Loving your partner can give you a candida infection.

Candida is extremely persistent and thrives on diets rich in sugar. Most physicians will advise altering diet yet this is only a stopgap measure. It doesn't eliminate candida, it just slows down its growth. Candida pairs up with sets of other organisms and toxic compounds to cause disease syndromes as it is a good immune suppressant allowing other pathogens to proliferate. Many attention deficit disorders are caused by Borna virus infections compounded by antibiotics and junk food diets which lead to candida infections that allow the Borna virus to more easily replicate. Add in a some mercury and measles vaccine virus and it can make you a little crazy. The latest version of the Frequency Foundation Measles Vaccine Complex frequency set includes strains of both Borna virus and candida. Over 50% of people tested need this frequency set.

The only way I have found to completely eliminate candida is to target each strain with frequencies. This is a complex problem as there are many strains and each strain has multiple forms that require multiple frequencies. It is not possible to eliminate this strain unless you target all the forms of the organism. It has taken 10 years of research to enable easy identification of these frequency sets so it is unlikely that most people will be able to do this on their own.

Aqua Flora should be taken while working on candida frequencies. It is a harmless, yet potent, homeopathic remedy. A teaspoon in a glass of water is best. Remember Norman Cousins? He used laughter to get himself out of his death bed when drugs didn't work.

Dr. Whitaker reports in his latest newsletter than adverse drug events rose 260% since 1998 and deaths induced by these events rose by 270%. Medical error was already the third leading cause of death in the U.S., largely due to adverse drug events. It may eventually exceed cancer deaths and become the second leading cause of death, assuming cancer deaths do not increase faster than drug induced deaths.

Well it is all about the money. When you are fat, dumb, and sick you take a lot of drugs and they keep you that way. The best we can probably do about it (other than just say no) is to laugh a lot and Bill Maher will definitely make you chuckle. There is nothing like a little gallows humor to make your day!

Electricity Can Slow the Progression of Certain Cancers

New research in the August Issue of Physics Today explains how low-intensity electric fields can disrupt the division of cancer cells and slow the growth of brain tumors. The team of researchers used alternating electric fields that shift electric particles in cells back and forth hundreds of thousands of times per second. These low-intensity alternating electric fields were once thought to only heat cells but after several years of experiments, the researchers have shown the fields to disrupt cell division in tumor cells placed on a glass dish.

After studying the effect of electricity in vitro and in labratory animals, the researchers began a small human clinical trial. The technique was applied to ten patients with glioblastoma multiforme, a type of brain cancer with a low survival rate. The researchers fitted the patients with electrodes that applied 200 kHz electric fields to the scalp at regular intervals for up to 18 hours a day. The cancer was observed to be progressing to advanced stages at a much slower rate (a median of 26 weeks) and in some cases even regressed. Typical time for tumor progression is 10 weeks and 3 of the 10 patients were still alive two years after the electrode therapy started.

Electric field therapy is found to have two effects on tumor cells. First, it slows down cell division by disrupting the formation and function of a key cell structure known as the mitotic spindle. Second, the electric field can sometimes cause the daughter cells to self destruct by forcing structures and molecules away from its infrastructure before the cell splits away from its partner . Electrode therapy poses little danger to normal brain tissue, because healthy brain cells do not divide. Researchers are now investigating the possibilities of combining electric fields with low-dose chemotherapy.

Washington, DC: A lawsuit recently filed in a federal court in Ohio against FDA officials on behalf of terminal cancer patients provides a rare window into the inner workings of an agency hijacked by pharmaceutical industry giants and stacked with insiders by President George Bush to guard against any threat to the profits of his top campaign contributors.

The lawsuit's complaint describes a conspiracy orchestrated by top FDA officials to basically drive a small company, Dendreon, out of business with the obvious goal of eliminating competition in what has become a thriving new industry involving the treatment of men with prostate cancer.

The complaint gives the details of a step-by-step plot to sabotage the FDA approval process of Provenge, the first-of-a-kind vaccine that can prolong the lives of men with late-stage cancer.

So when an Erie man announced he'd ignited salt water with the radio-frequency generator he'd invented, some thought it a was a hoax.

John Kanzius, a Washington County native, tried to desalinate seawater with a generator he developed to treat cancer, and it caused a flash in the test tube.

Within days, he had the salt water in the test tube burning like a candle, as long as it was exposed to radio frequencies.

His discovery has spawned scientific interest in using the world's most abundant substance as clean fuel, among other uses.

Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, held a demonstration last week at the university's Materials Research Laboratory in State College, to confirm what he'd witnessed weeks before in an Erie lab.

Viruses, Fat, and Obesity

My research indicates that there are dozens of viruses stored in the fatty tissue of everyone, particularly in the gut. There are at least nine different variations of altered cells caused by each virus, along with a dozen or more other components that are side effects of virus construction and replication.

These altered cells are difficult to eliminate in the abdomen and certain viruses like the one below cause them to proliferate. Once the viruses are eliminated by frequencies, many burn off immediately, fat redistributes normally in the body, and diet and exercise appear to burn off fat normally.

Scientists at the 234th national meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston, Massachusetts this week presented the results of a study that suggests a common virus could be partly responsible for the obesity epidemic that is sweeping across America and other nations. They hope their findings will develop antiviral medication to treat "viral obesity".

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), some 97 million adult Americans are obese. Obesity increases risk of many illnesses, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and osteoarthritis.

So far scientists have shown that genetic predisposition increases risk of obesity, as do other contributory factors including over-eating, eating foods high in fat, lack of physical exercise, genetics, and some medications.

In this latest study, researchers used lab experiments to show that infection with a common virus that causes respiratory and eye infections in humans, called human adenovirus-36 (Ad-36) turns adult stem cells retrieved from fat tissue into fat cells. But stem cells that were not exposed to Ad-36 did not turn into fat cells.

The scientists have also discovered that a specific gene in the virus causes the transformation from stem cells into fat cells.

Presenting the results of the study was Dr Magdalena Pasarica, obesity researcher at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, part of Louisiana State University:

"We're not saying that a virus is the only cause of obesity, but this study provides stronger evidence that some obesity cases may involve viral infections."

Pasarica explained that:

"Not all infected people will develop obesity. We would ultimately like to identify the underlying factors that predispose some obese people to develop this virus and eventually find a way to treat it."

Pasarica and colleagues took adult stem cells from the fatty tissue of a range of patients who had undergone liposuction. They exposed half of the stem cells to Ad-36, but not the other half.

After a week, most of the virus infected stem cells had transformed into fat cells, but the ones that were not infected had not changed.

Pasarica was involved in an earlier study led by Dr Nikhil Dhurandhar, now associate professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. The study showed that Ad-36 caused fat accumulation in animals infected with the virus. The research team then carried out an epidemiological study that showed 30 per cent of obese people were infected with Ad-36, compared with only 11 per cent of lean people.

It was not until this latest study that they were able to show how the virus actually increases fat in humans, according to the researchers.

The research team has also identified a gene in the Ad-36 virus, called E4Orfl, that seems to play a key role in switching on the fat accumulation process in infected animals. The gene could be a target for a range of human therapies, including vaccines and anti-virals, to treat obesity, said Pasarica.

ANN ARBOR, MI � Ginger is known to ease nausea and control inflammation. But researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center are investigating a new use for this age-old remedy: treating ovarian cancer.

J. Rebecca Liu, M.D.In laboratory studies, researchers found ginger caused ovarian cancer cells to die. Further, the way in which the cells died suggests ginger may avoid the problem common in ovarian cancer of cells becoming resistant to standard treatments.

The researchers are presenting their results in a poster session at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting.

Researchers used ginger powder, similar to what is sold at grocery stores, only a standardized research grade. The ginger powder was dissolved in solution and applied to ovarian cancer cell cultures. Ginger induced cell death in all the ovarian cancer cell lines tested.

Moreover, the researchers found that ginger caused two types of cell death. One type, known as apoptosis, results from cancer cells essentially committing suicide. The other type of cell death, called autophagy, results from cells digesting or attacking themselves.

'An Australian study suggests that the benefits of chemotherapy have been oversold � Why has it been oversold? Are you suggesting that medical oncologists in Australia are just sort of marketing shysters or what?' These were some of the questions posed by Dr Norman Swan when he presented the Health Report on ABC Radio National on 18 April 2005. Dr Swan was quizzing Associate Professor Graeme Morgan, the lead author of a controversial article entitled 'The contribution of cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adult malignancies'. This article reported that chemotherapy has improved survival by less than 3% in adults with cancer.

These provocative figures were derived from a literature search of all randomised clinical trials reporting a five-year survival benefit attributable solely to cytotoxic chemotherapy in 22 major adult malignancies. The common malignancies of bowel, lung, breast and prostate were included. The total number of newly diagnosed cancer patients for each malignancy in 1998 was determined from cancer registry data in Australia and the USA. The absolute number to benefit was the product of the total number of patients with that malignancy, the proportion or sub-group(s) with that malignancy showing a benefit, and the percentage increase in five-year survival due solely to cytotoxic chemotherapy. The overall contribution was the sum total of the absolute numbers of patients showing a five-year survival benefit expressed as a percentage of the total number for the 22 malignancies.

Overall cancer survival, following all kinds of treatment, is approximately 63%. Based on the calculations in the study the contribution of chemotherapy to adult survival from cancer was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1% in the USA. The authors, two of whom are radiation oncologists, but one of whom is a practicing professor of medical oncology, concluded that 'chemotherapy only makes a minor contribution to cancer survival' and 'to justify the continued funding and availability of drugs used in cytotoxic chemotherapy, a rigorous evaluation of the cost-effectiveness and impact on quality of life is urgently required'.
